Crashing started earlier.....

Short Version: Brace is starting to get a fever and feel gross. Today he threw up twice so the crashing has already started. Actually he started on Wednesday to get sick and throw up again. Round five of chemo ended on Thursday.

Wednesday, Jan 29th
I called Dr. Carroll this morning and convinced him to give him 4 treatments of hydration through his port that might help him not puke this weekend and next week. Today we had his nuepogen shot and then Saturday-tomorrow), Monday, Wednesday and Friday we have hydration. As I said above, throwing up started today.

Chemo treatment 5.2 was today. Unlike day 1 of chemo it only lasts 2 hours. Thank you to Del Stringham for driving him there and Steve Tanner for bringing him back. Driving helps Karen have time to exercise or run errands but most importantly it reminds Brace that we have an amazing group of people that love and support him.

At about 6:30pm Jalane Hong came to bring meds that she picked up for Brace at the Walmart pharmacy. She stayed a short time and we chatted. Actually she probably just listened while I talked. :)

At 7:30pm Ammon Harps came over to pack the Glee car to get it ready to for Lake Arrowhead tomorrow. Thank you to Ryan and Erin Webber for taking out the trash even at a late hour. The boys usually do it but I'm guessing you made it happen this time.

Thursday, Jan 30th
We started the day at the opthamologist, Dr. Jacobs. The expensive Muro 128 ointment, for his eyes, came from Amazon on Tuesday. After using for this short time his eye has already started to heal and the redness disappear. Dr. Jacobs says he can use the ointment as often as he likes.

While we were at the eye doctor, Ammon came to take the car to go to the lake house. The car was filled with curtains, curtain rods, 24 pillows, and 10 towel sets. He worked with Martin all day along with Charles and Ryan. Charles is our Lake Arrowhead realtor's son. Ammon and Charles got the marble sealed, the granite sealed, the curtain rods tested, the two security cameras on the deck connected to my phone, the ring doorbell working and more.

At 12pm, Brace had 5.3 chemo treatment at Irvine, Hoag infusion center. Thanks to Corey Procuniar for driving him there and Ed Mauss for driving him back.

At 5:30pm Cathy Taylor treated me to a pedicure in Foothill Ranch. We scheduled it over a month ago. What a treat to visit with her and get away for an hour. Thank you Cathy.

Friday, Jan 31st

The nuepogen shot was this morning at the infusion center. (If you are new to the blog, this shot encourages his body to make white blood cells.) The nurses know that the infusion chairs are too little for Brace, so they took him to the one bed they have at the infusion center. Then when they realized that it was just a shot they moved him to an infusion chair. The nurse knew we were coming and she put the needle and chemical in a warm blanket before we came. She said the shot hurts if you put it in your body cold. Who knew? We were in and out. It was great but Brace felt absolutely awful all morning. Right when we got to the car in the parking lot, he started violently throwing up.

Right when we drove up to the house, Michelle Stevens, was there to greet us. We are buying so many things for the lake house that we have a lot of packages that need to be returned too. Michelle offered to come drop them off at UPS for me. It is always fun to catch up with Michelle.

I had planned to see Adam Cox, my voice student, in his show at Mission Viejo High School, but Brace wasn't doing well enough. James, my son-in-law, showed up at the house with yummy sushi for dinner. Brace actually had a slice of sushi and he said he could taste 20% of it. Unfortunately an hour after he ate it, he started violently throwing up again. It seems like it is connected to the sushi, but we think puking is just part of the after chemo experience.

When James came over he brought a gift from Michael and Kim Rapier with a cute card and the red baseball hat. Oh how that made us laugh....

Tumor is Large / Small Cell not SNEC

October 25 at 5:40 PM MRI/CT: The tumor is large measuring 5.2 cm by 3.1 cm, but it seems to only be on one side. According to these tests it is NOT touching the brain and is NOT in the lymph nodes. It says the eyes are in the right position. The tests say he probably can't smell. :) We meet with the oncology nurse practitioner for Dr. Luu and she explained the reports for the MRI and the CT. We think Dr. Luu will review on Monday. On Wednesday we see the eye doctor to see what is happening the re. Final Biopsy came back: Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the paranasal sinuses (SNEC) is the new diagnosis. From Google - this is an uncommon tumor. (Before they thought it was SNUC) This tumor usually occurs in the lungs, the extra-pulmonary form accounts for only about 4% of all cases. Primary SNEC of the paranasal sinuses is extremely rare; only about 76 cases have been reported in literature. Unfortunately due to the rarity of this neoplasm, there a...

MRI, no Brain Surgeon, Friday Radiation

Liver MRI : Brace had an uneventful MRI this morning. It takes a while for the write-up and CD. After talking with Dr. Carroll the other day I'm not that worried about it. He then ran to LA to work with a client today. Trust: One of my clients is an estate lawyer and was kind enough to meet with me this morning to setup our family trust. Everything should be set by next week. If you need a referral, she was amazing and gave me great advice. Dana and LouAnn Lake came to visit Brace this afternoon from Arizona. It was a treat to see them. I forgot to take a picture. Brain Surgeon : He was on call at the hospital and had two surgeries. We postponed out appointment to next Wednesday. Fast Radiation: We are coming home now from radiation. It was his fastest yet. He doesn't complain or freak out, which they said is uncommon. Until we did this I had no idea what radiation on your face really meant. We are thrilled with the doctors and the techs her...

A little better day....

So knowing there is such great progress makes our nightmare easier to deal with. Thanks to your prayers, we both were able to sleep. 10 hours for Brace. I was able to exercise which makes everyone happy. :) On my bike I rode 15.5 miles in an hour thanks to watching the VidAngel version of Jake Ryan saving the world in Venezuela. I'm a Zwifter if you know that that is. After riding, radiation called and said they were ready for us at 1:15pm today in the new cancer center. Christine and Jill Clary came this morning at 9:45am and helped me get the house ready for our family party on Monday. Oh how sweet that was..... Upon waking up he ate the new formula through his g-tube, half a carton 250 calories, before taking a shower. After the shower, he threw up stomach acid and formula. Very painful process . :( . He threw up an hour later too. We went to the treatment at 1:15 at Mission. (I think that is treatment #20 of 33 treatments) ....
