So many appointments....

Monday: Infusion center called and said that Tecentriq (Immunotherapy) was cancelled since it wasn't approved. For four hours I talked to Blue Cross and the Infusion Center. It was approved in January after two treatments already happened so infusion couldn't understand that only two happened since then. I finally was able to explain it to everyone and we got back on the calendar for Tuesday.

Tuesday:
8:30AM Dental Oncologist. Dr. Lowe told us that if he brushed his tongue three times a day for 30 times he would get his taste buds back in 2-3 weeks. Great news is by Thursday he could taste things.
10am Immunotherapy for 1.5 hours at the infusion center. We have one more treatment approved in 3 weeks. The next four are in the approval process now. Dr. Carroll wants him to do it for a year every three weeks but it is so expensive that they approve 4 at a time.
1:15PM Met with Palliative Doctor. I received forgiveness for taking him off all pain meds. :) Best news is that he was given permission to drive and he gave us a plan on how to deal with the meds. We meet with him again in 4 weeks. He threw up today but not near as violent as when he was on chemo.
Wednesday: Physical Therapy Evaluation. Tonya was a wealth of knowledge at the Mission Cancer Center. One of the things she said is the reason he is so tired is that all the resources in the body are going to try to heal his ravaged body. Makes sense.... right? He threw up after his 7-minute exercise test. As of Sunday (today) I think it is an immunotherapy thing.... He threw up in the morning too. Brother Harp was kind enough to come to our house for a temple interview.
Thursday: We had planned on going to Arrowhead today and Brace helped pack the truck by himself for an hour. It totally took out his energy. So for the next three hours I
finished packing the truck and then decided to wait for him to feel better and go in the morning.
That night he wanted a full meal - El Pollo chicken and potatoes. He was dreaming of it for weeks and decided Thursday was the day. It worked! It took him 40 minutes but he did it.
Friday: We went to Arrowhead and he was able to drive. He was too tired to do anything really, but I was able to do so much and I met with a lot of people. I went to bed late and I was so tired.
Saturday: I got a lot done in the morning with resetting the wifi, the lights, the cable and more. Packing everything to go took forever again without help. :) . I am so spoiled Brace usually loves to pack the car. Good news is he was able to drive. He throws up on the mountain if he is the passenger.
Early night we had a movie night and watched Midway in our living room with our friends Jannah and Larry Lennon. It was great to meet with them both. Larry was a huge help to Brace when he first got put on his G-tube.
Sunday: He drove to church and looked great, but he really felt awful. He came home after first hour and crashed for four hours. When he woke up we gave him "real food" (new thing from the Lennon's) through his tube hoping that would give him some strength but he continued to feel awful.
Kjarstin and James came over for James' early birthday tacos and cookie fest. Brace could sit in the chair for about ten minutes and then he had to crash again.
I'm writing this discouraged (actually we are both pretty discouraged) with how awful he felt today. We are hoping for a better day tomorrow.
Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for the great cards from Leslie Ashby, the Ozuna's, and Nancy Boyce.

Tumor is Large / Small Cell not SNEC

October 25 at 5:40 PM MRI/CT: The tumor is large measuring 5.2 cm by 3.1 cm, but it seems to only be on one side. According to these tests it is NOT touching the brain and is NOT in the lymph nodes. It says the eyes are in the right position. The tests say he probably can't smell. :) We meet with the oncology nurse practitioner for Dr. Luu and she explained the reports for the MRI and the CT. We think Dr. Luu will review on Monday. On Wednesday we see the eye doctor to see what is happening the re. Final Biopsy came back: Small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma of the paranasal sinuses (SNEC) is the new diagnosis. From Google - this is an uncommon tumor. (Before they thought it was SNUC) This tumor usually occurs in the lungs, the extra-pulmonary form accounts for only about 4% of all cases. Primary SNEC of the paranasal sinuses is extremely rare; only about 76 cases have been reported in literature. Unfortunately due to the rarity of this neoplasm, there a...

MRI, no Brain Surgeon, Friday Radiation

Liver MRI : Brace had an uneventful MRI this morning. It takes a while for the write-up and CD. After talking with Dr. Carroll the other day I'm not that worried about it. He then ran to LA to work with a client today. Trust: One of my clients is an estate lawyer and was kind enough to meet with me this morning to setup our family trust. Everything should be set by next week. If you need a referral, she was amazing and gave me great advice. Dana and LouAnn Lake came to visit Brace this afternoon from Arizona. It was a treat to see them. I forgot to take a picture. Brain Surgeon : He was on call at the hospital and had two surgeries. We postponed out appointment to next Wednesday. Fast Radiation: We are coming home now from radiation. It was his fastest yet. He doesn't complain or freak out, which they said is uncommon. Until we did this I had no idea what radiation on your face really meant. We are thrilled with the doctors and the techs her...

A little better day....

So knowing there is such great progress makes our nightmare easier to deal with. Thanks to your prayers, we both were able to sleep. 10 hours for Brace. I was able to exercise which makes everyone happy. :) On my bike I rode 15.5 miles in an hour thanks to watching the VidAngel version of Jake Ryan saving the world in Venezuela. I'm a Zwifter if you know that that is. After riding, radiation called and said they were ready for us at 1:15pm today in the new cancer center. Christine and Jill Clary came this morning at 9:45am and helped me get the house ready for our family party on Monday. Oh how sweet that was..... Upon waking up he ate the new formula through his g-tube, half a carton 250 calories, before taking a shower. After the shower, he threw up stomach acid and formula. Very painful process . :( . He threw up an hour later too. We went to the treatment at 1:15 at Mission. (I think that is treatment #20 of 33 treatments) ....
