Today is Brace's Cancer party. We moved it to Glee at 20902 Bake Parkway, Suite 100 so we wouldn't need to limit who could come. Here's the latest....
10/31/2019 Radiation Oncologist
After Day 1 of Chemo, we headed over to Dr. Chou, the Radiation oncologist, with our amazing nurse practitioner, Alice. Basically they are going to use radiation to target only the areas of his face that have the cancer. Once we get fitted for the teeth guard (to protect his teeth) next week and they will complete the radiation mapping they can start radiation. We are told 7 weeks, 15 minutes a day Monday through Friday. We think they might start the same time as our next round of chemo. The picture of the radiation mask above is from my friend, who just found out she was cancer free last week!
Then my dear friend took me to see my niece, Leslie, in the opera, Orpheus and the Underworld, while Kjarstin and James talked to Brace for hours before he crashed. We love those two....
11/1/2019 Chemo #2 / Tests
We got his tests bumped a week not knowing how traumatic it would be. 7am MRI brain and 3 CT scans with contrast meant Brace had to wake up at 3:30am and 5:30am to drink what Brace calls "bull semen". It made him soooo sick and then when he arrived the lab tech told him most people don't drink all of the 2 liters. He was not impressed. Then later in the day Kjarstin took him to chemo day #2 for the sushi party below. The woman picture on Kjarstin's post is snapchat making Brace into a woman. Only Kjarstin & Brace........ It was a rough rough night with the liquid and the chemo.
11/2/2019 Singing Event / Scott / Frazier's.
Karen had an all day event (NATS) for her singing students in Fullerton. Brace took a short walk in the morning. They really want him to walk every day. Scott Lake, our nephew, flew in from Connecticut and made sure Brace ate and drove him to day 3 of chemo. They used to work together at Martin. Chemo was uneventful which was a blessing and we loved seeing Scott.
After chemo the Frazier's arrived from St. George to attend the party on Sunday. We went to Outback and Brace had a good appetite. Brace struggled with nausea but was finally able to sleep.
11/3/2019 Special Prayer/Fast and 7-8:30 Cancer Party
Thank you for the special group prayer today. We are praying that he can eat and drink and exercise even when he feels awful. This will help him fight the cancer.
See you at the party later today.
